Furnishing our new home

It's taken a while and we are not done yet but we did buy some furniture including a sofa, coffee table, buffet and side table.  And amazingly we got it from a store we didn't think we'd be buying from - OzDesign!

We bought the sofa and decided to get a sofa bed as it would be more versatile than just a plain sofa.  Also the sofa bed was firmer and we liked the seating better.  Now that it's home we're getting a bit of buyer's remorse as it's firmer than we like and the colour is darker than we imagined.  We did take our wall colour and curtain colour chips in but it's never quite the same as bringing it home and viewing it there.  Also the fabric swatches aren't on the sofa so a lot of imagination is happening when buying a sofa!

So the sofa at home looks like this:

It's the Kent sofabed and was $1299.
We also purchased the amazing industrial looking coffee table as well.  The ozdesign website only has the darker colour Stonemill tables but we liked the rustic pine (reclaimed pine).

And in addition to the occasional tables (we got the side table too), we bought a reclaimed pine Middleton buffet.  As we wanted something fairly long as otherwise it would look too 'short' next to the dining room table.  Again the website only has the white but it comes in two other colours.  We chose the old pine.

The console table.  It was long awaited as we had purchased the Pottery Barn lanterns for a pretty penny and they were waiting for their new home!  So we got the Cantina console which is a similar vein to the buffet and coffee table but slightly different... but we figured it was pretty far away from the buffet and living area occasional tables so we could get away with it.
Before we put the console table that area was looking very bare!

With the added table and the Pottery Barn Park Hill lanterns I LOVE (and inside them I've put in automatic wax electric candles yep that flicker.  They turn on at 7pm and turn off around midnight).

Another thing we had purchased in October was the dining room table.  Yes the Pottery Barn Benchwright table I was going to try and build.  Who was I kidding???  Here's an earlier blog post about my thinking about dining room tables.  And here is the plan for building the Benchwright table in case you fancy trying your hand at it.

OK so this is the gorgeous table.  I would have gotten the more mellow colour but they don't stock it here in Australia... so we went with the mahogany - which goes with the cubes but not the other stuff.  The style people tell me that it no longer needs to be matchy matchy.  Hmmm... I agree but it could be a bit much.  But I have seen the non matchy matchy at Pottery Barn so it must be OK, yes???

(A little bit annoyed as the pine version is now available in Australia... ah well I still love the one we chose and maybe too much of a similar timber is too much!)

Sorry sorry... here are lots of pics of the table as we set it up back in October!

And a much more current photo with the buffet, the light and other bits and bobs!

Some more photos of furniture for any pic piggies out there!

And just 'in progress' photos of furniture:

And some furniture shopping photos (fairly random as I only have some of the photos - rest are on husband's phone).

Hmmm I forgot about this mirror.  I quite like it.  May have to review this again in light of our buffet...

No bed yet.  (We are sleeping on an extra tall mattress after off loading our old bed in a house we sold).  But we are looking...
